Like myself, voters across the country are receiving Polling Site Consolidation Information. We wanted to give you a heads up on what to expect. Like, later than usual wait times because more people will now be at sites. This year, they have limited polling sites. So just be aware and remain calm. You vote matters. And we appreciate you getting out to vote and making your voice count. VOTE 2020

What to Expect

  • Polling sites are asking you wear a face cover to protect yourself and poll inspectors.

  • Inspectors will be wearing face coverings and tabletops will have barrier shields.

  • There will be routine cleaning of anything frequently touched.

  • Ballot pens, styluses, and privacy sleeves WILL BE one time use for every voter.

  • Hand Sanitizer will be available.

  • Some facilities may have additional measures in place.

  • Do to limited polling sites open and social distancing this year, wait times may be longer.

NOTE: This information has been provided by the local Board of Election and is made public.

We asked the questions, Got you the answers

  • NO, you will not have your temperature checked.

  • NO, you will not be turned away if you come without a face covering. However, if you don't have a face covering, you may have to wait OUTSIDE until folks are gone, building is clear, and you can be brought inside safely to vote. This is to protect yourself and workers at the polling site. Remember polling site workers are usually older individuals. To reduce this type of situation please bring a face covering.

  • What additional measures? This has to do with sites open for polling and building layouts. Example: Some buildings might have hallways with lines of people standing in them. Please social distance. Watch for signs, arrows on the floor, and listen to instructions. Polling sites might also have one way in ENTER and one way out EXIT. Please follow the signs for your safety. Some builfings may only allow FOUR people in a room because of size. This is also due to social distancing guidelines.

Keep in mind this will all factor into the time you may have to wait.

Be Prepared, Be Patient, Be Safe I want to thank Broome County Board of Elections for answering, my questions. I know I'm better prepared and my family members. Remember you can Vote in Person or Vote By Mail this year. The choice is yours. Just keep in mind polling sites are limited, which can mean longer wait time.
