Distracted Driver Awareness Month
The month of April is Distracted Driver Awareness Month and here in New York State it can be a real issue. Did you know the New York State Police have already issued over 7,000 distracted driver tickets across all of New York for 2019! And we just hit April! What are people thinking! Holding a phone is a ticketable offense. So don't go talking on the phone, taking selfies, changing the music on your phone or gaming. What is Distracted Driving Broome County Sheriff's Office, "Distracted driving is any activity that diverts attention from driving." We asked about drive thru's, people go to Wendy's, Burger King, Mc Donald's and while driving and eating is considered a driving distraction, in New York State, "As long as one hand is on the wheel - it’s legal to drive."
Driving Tips:
Use your cell phone for emergency situations only.
Limit the number of passengers.
Do your multi-tasking outside the car.
