New 4-Way Stop in Village of Endicott
Back in April, we reported on a traffic study taking place in the Village of Endicott. Earlier today, around 2 p.m. multiple stoplights were set to flashing. This one on the corner of Monroe and Madison was set to all red lights flashing. Moments later 4 stop signs were placed on at the intersection.
There were other intersections flashing red and yellow, to indicate which direction would get the full stop. While these changes were said to be due to low traffic on the streets in question, Monroe Street was one in question that had several near miss accidents. It's most recent intersection accident took place just this past winter and involved a police cruiser. Since the study beyond in April of 2018, there have been three additional near miss accidents which involved running a red light as well as drivers not paying attention..Community members believe the 4-way stop on Monroe will force all drivers to be more alert. Only time will tell.
