As the winter months approach the United States, some states are already running drills to make sure they are prepared for the many struggles we face during this time of year. Is your state one of them?

It was early in the year of 2017, the East Coast just got hit by a blizzard and New York State was unaware of what it was up against. Journalist Wendy Spickerman recalls, "It was the dead of night. I was tracking the news all day, the day before. As I watched the weather map, as night drew closer, it was apparent this thing was going to hit us, harder than expected." I was sending out posts looking for updates as the storm moved in. Watching who responded, where they were, how hard it was hitting. Around 2 a.m. I got a hit closest to us. I looked at the weather map, then looked out the window... Suddenly everyone around us was getting hit but we had nothing! That's when I knew we were in the eye of the storm."
